Michael Sallit is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

Data collected

The public archive does not provide account creation or a contact form. If you subscribe to the weekly newsletter, your email address, consent date and subscription status are stored to send the Cover of the Week. If you accept audience analytics, the site records an anonymous session identifier together with viewed pages and interactions such as searches, filters, cover views, Spotify clicks, shares and newsletter signups. These first-party records do not contain your name or email address. If you contact Michael by email, the information you choose to send—such as your name, email address, message and professional details—is received and processed in order to answer you.

Technical information such as IP address, browser type, requested pages, timestamps and security events may also be processed by the hosting infrastructure to deliver and protect the website.

Purposes and legal bases

The newsletter is sent on the basis of your consent, which you may withdraw at any time by contacting Michael. Email correspondence is processed on the basis of Michael’s legitimate interest in answering enquiries and, where relevant, taking steps before entering into a contract or managing an existing professional relationship. Technical data is processed for the legitimate interests of operating, securing and maintaining the website.

Recipients and services

Data is accessible only to Michael and to the technical providers required to operate the website. The site is hosted by OpenAI through ChatGPT Sites. With your prior consent, anonymous interaction records are stored in the site’s audience dashboard and the Google Analytics tag measures visits and interactions with the archive. Album artwork and music links are supplied through Spotify. When you choose to open or use Spotify content, Spotify processes information under its own privacy policy.

The site does not sell personal data and does not intentionally use it for behavioural advertising.

International transfers

Some technical providers may process information outside the European Economic Area. Where applicable, those providers are responsible for implementing an appropriate legal mechanism and safeguards for such transfers.

How long data is kept

Newsletter data is kept until you withdraw your consent or the newsletter is discontinued. Anonymous audience records are kept only for as long as they are useful for measuring and improving the archive. General enquiries are kept only for the time required to answer and follow up, and for no longer than three years after the last meaningful contact unless a longer period is required by law. Information connected to contracts, invoices or accounting obligations may be retained for the applicable statutory periods. Technical logs are retained according to the hosting provider’s operational and security requirements.

Cookies and local storage

The public archive does not use advertising cookies. Local storage is used to remember covers you add to your inspiration board and to retain your analytics preference on your device. Essential technical storage may also be used for security, administration and features expressly requested by the visitor.

The audience dashboard and Google Analytics are authorised to measure visits only after you explicitly accept audience analytics. The Google Analytics tag is loaded when the site opens, with analytics and advertising consent denied by default. If accepted, Google may place audience-measurement cookies and process information about pages viewed, interactions, approximate location, device and browser. The site also creates a temporary anonymous session identifier in session storage to group first-party events into a visit. Advertising storage, advertising user data and ad personalisation remain disabled. You may refuse analytics without losing access to the site and change your choice at any time through the “Privacy” control displayed on the site.

Your rights

Subject to the conditions of applicable law, you may request access to your personal data, its correction or deletion, restriction of processing, portability, or object to processing based on legitimate interests. You may also withdraw consent whenever a processing activity relies on consent.

To exercise these rights, write to michaelsallit@gmail.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Commission nationale de l’informatique et des libertés (CNIL).

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when the website, its services or the applicable rules change. The current version and its update date will always be published on this page.
