About the curator
Michael Sallit
Art director, graphic designer and visual researcher, working where music, images and cultural references meet.
Michael began his career in music as an assistant label manager at Tigersushi before joining Collectif MU and working on the Filmer la musique festival. He later collaborated with Paris music venues including Espace B, Le Chinois de Montreuil, Le Trabendo, Le Batofar and Petit Bain.
His independent practice gives music a visual voice through identities, campaigns and artwork. His collaborators include Humanist Records, Mawimbi, Arista, Hands in the Dark, Deezer, Radio France, Radio Campus France, Radio Campus Paris and Radio Dijon Campus.
Alongside his studio work, Michael teaches courses about the power of images and the role of cultural references in advertising. His perspective is shaped by a past as a DJ and selector, and by his practice as a bass player.
Typographic Album Covers brings these interests together in a hand-picked archive examining how lettering, rhythm and composition give recorded music a visual identity.
